Airplane travel is known as a very safe form of travel, safer than driving to your destination. However, injuries on flights are still possible. There are a number of potential hazards, such as turbulence, small spaces, and faulty devices.
Injuries that occur on airplanes are:
• Getting hit by falling luggage
• Moving around in a cramped space, causing a fall or bumping into something
• Harassment or assault from another passenger
• Rolling food/beverage cart injuries
• Slip and falls
• Turbulence-related incidents
• A poorly designed or faulty product, such as an overhead bin
Airlines are known as common carriers, meaning they transport goods or people, and provide a higher standard of care. Carriers and goods must be unharmed during travel, and the airline must be nondiscriminatory. In negligence cases, it must be proven that the airline neglected their duty of care, leading to an injury. The airline cannot, however, be held liable for unforeseen circumstances, such as unpredicted turbulence (assuming flight staff did everything in their power to ensure passenger safety).
Most airline injury cases are confusing and frustrating to the average passenger. A knowledgeable attorney who has experience with airlines will understand FAA rules and regulations, the Warsaw and Montreal Conventions, aircraft safety and functions, and other industry-specific rules pertaining to aviation litigation.
If you have been injured on an International flight, the rules may be different, and you should meet with an attorney immediately. The location the flight departed from and the destination may make it difficult to determine jurisdiction for the case, or damages may be limited. An experienced attorney will be able to help you navigate complicated situations such as these.

Road Rage and Aggressive Driving Lead to Senseless Injuries Not too long ago, I wrote an article on aggressive driving and road rage.
